Tel Hai Promotes Sharon Canull to CFO

Tel Hai Retirement Community named Sharon Canull as Chief Financial Officer effective July 2, 2018. Sharon has direct administrative responsibility for the oversight of the Controller, the Director of Purchasing and serves as liaison with the Child Day Care Center.

Sharon, of Bowmansville, has served at Tel Hai for more than 35 years in various roles within the Finance Department and was Director of Finance since 2010.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Immaculata College and a master’s in nonprofit management from Eastern University.

Tel Hai Hosts ‘Good Friday’ Breakfast & Talk Featuring Award-Winning Author Gayle Roper

Tel Hai Retirement Community invites the community to participate in a buffet breakfast and talk by keynote speaker, award-winning author Gayle Roper on Good Friday, March 30 at 8:00 AM on the campus of Tel Hai.

Roper has authored more than forty books, and has been a Christy finalist three times for her novels Spring Rain, Summer Shadows, and Winter Winds.  Her novel Autumn Dreams won the prestigious Romance Writers of America’s (RITA) Award for Best Inspirational Romance. She has taught with Christian Leaders, Authors and Speakers Services (CLASS), serving for several years as their writer in residence. Roper enjoys speaking at events across the nation and loves sharing the powerful truths of Scripture with humor and practicality.

Tel Hai Hosts Annual High School Art Exhibit: March 15 & 16

Tel Hai Retirement Community will host the 22nd Annual High School Student Art Show in the StoneCroft Center for Worship and Performing Arts on Thursday, March 15 and Friday, March 16, 2018, located at 4000 Tree Line Drive, Honey Brook, Pa.

The artwork will be available for the public’s viewing and enjoyment from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Thursday and 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Friday. The event is free and open to the general public.  Local high school art teachers were invited to select student works for display at the show, hosted by Tel Hai.

Tel Hai is always eager to welcome the exhibit on campus; it is a long-time favorite of residents and the local community. Juried artists will review the installation and select works to receive honors in accordance with published Scholastic Art Awards categories.

These include: ceramics & glass, design, drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.

Clark Gallery ‘Meet the Artist’ Open House with Professional Artist David Eastburn: Jan. 19, 2018, 1 – 3PM

Tel Hai Retirement Community invites the community to attend a ‘Meet the Artist’ Dessert Reception & Open House with professional artist David Eastburn on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 1-3 PM in the StoneCroft Commons Clark Gallery. Join us for this free open house and reception, which is open to the public. A residential living accommodations will be open for viewing.

David’s artwork is currently on display within the gallery. A portion of the proceeds from each piece of artwork sold goes to Tel Hai Retirement Community’s Care Assurance Fund for residents that outlive their ability to pay for their care.

David is a local photographer that is well known in Chester County. He has a strange inexplicable calling to pick up a camera and press the shutter. To capture, to connect and to create. He doesn’t need words or a stage or an audience just a camera and a subject. In this season of thankfulness, gather around boxes of old photographs to reflect and practice gratitude. Because in those black and white snapshots lies proof of a life well lived.

David opened his first Photography Studio in Downingtown in 1980. He continues to live and photograph in Chester County, near Hibernia Park, and owns Eastburn Photography, Coatesville, PA.

Tel Hai Hosts Holiday Craft Bazaar: Nov. 30, 10AM – 2PM

Tel Hai Retirement Community invites the public to attend a ‘Holiday Craft Bazaar’ on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Auditorium/Chapel on the campus of Tel Hai. This event is free and open to the public.

From home-based business to skilled craftsman, this bazaar is a great place to get a head start on holiday shopping. Items for sale include knitted and woven items, wooden crafts, jewelry, stained glass, pottery, florals and familiar names such as Tupperware, Thirty-One Gifts and Scentsy.

Tel Hai Fleeces Now Available For Purchase

Tel Hai Retirement Community has now added apparel offerings to the General Store. Fleece jackets are now available for purchase and sample sizes are available to try on in the color choice options. 

Prices range from $40-$50, and available sizes include S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL. Colors available include black, charcoal, hunter, navy, true royal, or wine with the Tel Hai logo embroidered in white.

Payment is due upon ordering and all sales are final. No returns or exchanges. Orders can be placed at the General Store, in the Garrett Community Center, and must be placed by November 27, 2017.  Tel Hai will call you once your order is available for pick up. Please allow us 2-3 weeks to fulfill order.

Tel Hai Hosts 2018 Medicare Open Enrollment Educational Session: Oct. 3

Tel Hai Retirement Community invites the public to attend an educational session on the 2018 Medicare Open Enrollment options by trained Medicare specialist and Berks Encore volunteer John Vogel. The sessions will be held on Tuesday, October 3 at 9:30 am in the StoneCroft Center for Worship & Performing Arts, and at 2:00 pm in the Auditorium/Chapel.  This event is free and open to the greater community. 

Private counseling sessions are also available from 10:15 am to 12:30 pm in the StoneCroft Center for Worship & Performing Arts and from 2:45 pm to 5:00 pm in the Reflection Room, near Auditorium/Chapel.  For a complimentary 10-minute private counseling meeting, a sign-up sheet will be available at the event. Please bring ID coverage and prescription list to private meetings.

Vogel will provide an update on Medicare programs and benefit changes, along with essential information on Medicare; Medicaid; Prescription Coverage; Supplemental Insurance; and Medicare Advantage Plans. Vogel is trained in Medicare/Medicaid Fraud, Social Security Benefits, and Pace/Pacenet drug coverage.

Tel Hai Hosts Soren West on September 1: Hiking the Appalachian Trail at 75

Tel Hai Retirement Community’s Life Enrichment Committee invites the public to attend an educational lecture titled “The Story of Sojourner: Hiking the Appalachian Trail at 75” on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 10:30 AM. Event is hosted in the StoneCroft Center for Worship & Performing Arts, on the campus at Tel Hai, located at 4000 Tree Line Drive, Honey Brook. This event is free and open to the public.

The lecture is provided by Soren West, a Lancaster-based attorney who hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2,200 miles) with his trusty Golden Retriever Theo— at 75 years old! Fulfilling a dream from childhood, Soren will share his awesome story of navigating from Georgia to Maine, while battling injury, oppressive heat and the unforgiving wilderness.

Every Appalachian Trail “thru-hiker” takes a trail name. Soren’s is “Sojo” which stands for “Sojourner.” Travel with him on an adventure he conceived when he was 14 and finally achieved at 75.
